The income-generating activities necessary for transitioning to a full-time influencer include △influencer platform activities △sponsored content creation △additional activities such as commerce and group buying △PB product sales △goods production and sales, and the minimum income required for recognition as a profession was most frequently cited as between 30 million won and 50 million won in annual income. Notably, the proportion of respondents who believe that it is necessary to be affiliated with a company or organization, such as through influencer agency activities or starting a one-person business, rather than working independently, was 53% and 34%, respectively.
President Dae-gyu Jang of the Korea Influencer Industry Association stated, “Raising social awareness among the public about the recognition of influencers as a profession and expanding the businesses of entities engaged in the influencer industry are of utmost importance to ensure that influencers can be recognized as a profession. As the number of full-time influencers is increasing, the association plans to expand its support and activities in related areas, including protecting the rights and interests of these individuals, including their copyrights, as well as providing influencer professional ethics education and promotion.”
